And.....this Jane Gibson was married to Morris Evans.....
Margaret Jane Evans, The Younger, Upper Congaree Shikora
Not this Jane Gibson.....
Elizabeth Chavis was married to Peter Gibson....Jane Gibson b.1640 was married to Thomas Gibson.
So Diane, the official translation in Appalachian of what this"dandy" is saying is,
"I'm 69 years old and and I swear on the Holy Bible that my daddy William Meriweather tole me a whole buncha times that he bought offin a fella name of Lightfoot in New Kent a mulatto girl name a Frank Evans and her brother."
I'm a little rusty but that is what I read. Heading down to Logan tomorrow evening for the weekend for a HS reunion. I'll get straightened out on my proper hillbilly language...
I think a mulatto wench named Frank Evans is really interesting, as a Capt/Councilman Lightfoot purchase...is what I suspect. Beverly Renee Hallman Marsh, Gedmatch Kit #XK9447597
I just wanted you all to know that I sent Ann Ramsey the following comments....
Hello Ann, Just wanted to let you know that I am 99% sure the Quick line is relation to my husband. There was an Aquilla Quick that I believe is his so many great-grandfather. I think there was a marriage with a Chavis. I have asked my sister-in-law to give me a copy of the family tree so that I can put it on geni....still waiting. I know that she has all the documents to prove the lineage and everything, and she is a member of the DAR. Somehow connected to Shumake...or Shumate. I'll add things if she ever gives them to me. Diana
Paskawo, gedcom/RE7076155 Your tons of matches with Quick are easily reflected in this current tree as is, based on cousin distances and working from your known Cumbo cousins.
What's kinda funny is..... I have a dna match to someone named Andrew Quick....and 6 others that have Quick in their trees. Gibson...40 (named Gibson or Gibson in their trees). Proctor....16 people with Proctor in their trees. Bryant....1 named Bryant and 44 others with Bryant in their trees. Evans....65 (named Evans or Evans in their trees). I could go on and on. I added a profile a little bit ago that is a dna match for me (NA, but don't know which kind)....
I can't add anybody else to his tree (geni has been messed up for me since yesterday)
Two of my matches that have Lightfoot in their trees don't show their tree. First match is to a female named Robyn Sears. Her listed surnames are Lightfoot, Moore, Byrne, Harrell, Dininger, O'Donovan, and Speicher. Second one is named India (Lightfoot) Blanding....no list of other surnames. I will show the other (oldest) Lightfoots listed in the other matches trees. Give me a little bit....
Next, a Barbara Smith, maiden name Fowler. She has 2 Lightfoots listed. An Alice Lightfoot b.1612 that married a William Spencer b.1585. Also an Elizabeth Lightfoot b.1726 that married a James Roberts b.1725. This tree has a ton of surnames listed (maybe 200). I do see Evans, Arrant, Bennett, Davis, Hughes, Keene, Hall, King, Kennon, Lewis, Morgan, Napier. Pope, Powell, Sanders, Thompson, White, Warner, Waters, Webster, ...etc. More than likely, I connect to her in more ways than one...
Last, I have a Randall Blair. His Lightfoots listed are a John Lightfoot b. 1695 married an Honor Pierce b. 1693. Their daughter Elizabeth b. 1715 married a John Sims b. 1713. Maybe 70 surnames listed. Some are Childress, Fox, Harris, Looper?, Morgan, Powell, Pierce, Ramsey, Skelton, Shumate, Vaughn (variance of Vann), Young, etc,
I think that is all that I can help.
Diana Collins There’s nothing wrong with your profile that I can see. Can you try “create a branch” from the research menu to make an unconnected profile as a test? If that doesn’t work, you will need to look at your browser etc. if it does work, delete the test profile, and post a link to where you’re trying to add a profile on.
Bellinda Gail Myrick-Barnett, I have a lot of DNA matches on Ancestry with Lightfoot in their trees. I don't mind reaching out to some of them (one is a 4th cousin apparently) but I don't really know what to ask. I am not a Geni.com paid member and haven't spent a lot of time here doing research.
