Marie Long (Willmote) [Marie Long] is my 12th g-gm. I think there is a problem with her mother being Agnes Willmote (Upton). Marie was BORN in 1560 while Agnes DIED in 1552--at least according to Geni. Does anyone have documentable info for either lady to "prove" their connection???

The http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:...... site says that Agnes is her mother but no maiden name is included for her (& the site says "currently unavailable") so I was unable to look at their info. None of the other info in Marie's profile lists any parents... & I couldn't find online any more info for either lady.

Any help that Geni members can provide would be greatly appreciated. Also at present I have her "sister" Margaret Taylor (Wellmote) as the mother of Marie's daughter-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth Taylor!!! So I am really soooooo confused!!!!!!!

Marie Long (Willmote)'s son, [Robert Long, of Charlestown] is the immigrant (Robert came in the Defence from London, 1635, aged 45, with wife, no doubt his second, Elizabeth 30, says the custom-house record but probably 33, and ten children). Hope this helps those who have access to alt. resources.

I see a mistake in the narrative for the immigrant already. Says he was the father of the "rebel Puritan" Herodias (Long) (Hicks) (Gardner) Porter

Um, no he wasn't. No one knows her parents. Sorry to lose you a fascinating great aunt!

Can you edit her out of the child list & ill merge Herodias to the master profile?

Herodias (Long) (Hicks) (Gardner) Porter

(we should check on the rest of the children too obviously)

Hello Erica, John Osborne Austin in "The Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island" says Herodias Long married George and also spells George's last name Gardiner. Herodias married first John Hicks at the age of 13-14, second George Gardiner, third John Porter. She declared her father died in England and that her mother and brother died and lost their estate in his Majesty's service. I would think this might make it easier for those who have access to British records to locate parents of Herodias.

Yes, I just updated George Gardner / Gardiner's name. We do have to remember Herodias may have embellished some facts ....

Patricia Ann Scoggin I’ve uploaded a good article about Robert Long, his family, & his English origins to his profile

https://media.geni.com/p13/31/c3/41/61/53444846ef8beae5/img_1255_or...

Is Page 1, Please see the media tab & view full size for page 2.

Please study and adjust the profile overview (family) based on it, I will take care of any locked fields needing adjusting. You should probably add the citation to the overview also (in the document description field), and as you can, tag the document to the profiles it references.

When the overview family list is straightened out then I can work on detaching anyone extraneous.

As a quick read he’s good for two generations of lineage.

I’d much rather focus on the immigrant first I think for obvious reasons, and I’m not done trying to collect documents to study.

Pat I would suggest rewriting Robert Long’s overview based on this page

https://mathcs.clarku.edu/~djoyce/gen/report/rr01/rr01_358.html#P32410

Also fill in for the 2nd wife. The first wife overview is good but she did not have a middle name of Elizabeth. I think her parents are accurate also. The second wife’s maiden name was maybe Roberts or Ross according to Torrey’s New England Marriages before 1709, document uploaded.
