Václav "James" Vetrovec Here is my second great grandfather Vaclav/Watslav/James Vetrovec who I am having a hard time finding any immigration records for. I have located a death record that I believe to be his in Indiana, the marriage record, and 2 census records (one confirmed, on speculated). The records show he immigrated in 1887-1888, but have been unable to locate the immigration record themself. There is also some speculation the he had family in Cleveland, Ohio but that is a just a reculation of my father who as a young child took a trip to see family there.
Also connected here is his wife Filomena Vetrovec my second great grandmother also a brickwall.
I wonder the same thing. I did DNA testing back when it first came out. At that time they didn't have the database they do now to connect matches. I plan on doing again very soon. I'll keep you posted.
I have no other info on any siblings for Katherine. I do take care of her grave in Cleveland and those of her children. I would love to dig deeper into the Vetrovec side. On Katherine's death certificate it does list James Vetrovec as her father and that he is from Bohemia. This is what my grandmother (their daughter) told me. Katherine's death certificate does not list a mother.
I'm planning a trip to Cleveland to do some local digging. I'll work on the Vetrovec side.
I have never heard of any of my Grandmother's family living in Indiana BUT...I have a feeling that her mother never spoke of any siblings so my Grandmother may not have been aware of them.
I too have seen Otto Vetrovec in Cleveland and have always assumed he was related to my great grandmother. I have yet to find the connection.
Your Vaclav James, I believe there is a high chance he and Katherine were siblings. Katherine death cert shows James Vetrovec as her father. Katherine's third born was named Vaclav. He was born September 1887 and died November 1887. It seems possible that she named her son after her father and or brother.
Are you aware of any other possible spelling of Vetrovec?
This might be your ancestor.

I was able to trace my family back to Vaclav/Watsalv (Walter) Vetrovec. Born in Aug 1861 and immigrated to the us in 1888. He moved to Ohio, and then ended up in Chicago. Here is the link to his profile "
"Josephs parents are Joseph Vetrovec and Anna Kopickova/Kopicka from Bohemia. they also have a daughter Anna Vetrovec Huska (1838-1916) and Julia Vetrovec Profant (1852-??) both born in Bohemia.
My father says they visited a Vetrovec aunt from Cleveland, but doesn't remember and names. Im pretty sure my Vaclav Vetrovec (Aug 1861-??) was at least a close relative of your Cleveland Vetrovec's.
