No he is NOT a descendant of Rev, John Knox.

No his grandfather was NOT John Knox of Ayr.

No, NOBODY knows who his father and mother were, but we know who they were NOT.

And again, and again, and AGAIN!!!

What part of "HIS PARENTS ARE NOT KNOWN" do you people NOT UNDERSTAND?

Also, somebody clean out the Media section, as someone with no proven ancestry has NO right to any coat of arms. (How about seal of Anne Arundel County? He certainly lived there....)

Private User I’ve done some more cleanup and relationship locking. There is an unsupported rootsweb study that seems to be a source of confusion.

Rev. John Welsh, of Ayr Had no son John.

The John here John Welsh May have had a son John, but there is no evidence supporting him as father of Maj. John Welsh

I’ve added the Anne Arundel county seal & de tagged the coats of arms.

Why are you so sure that they are not related?

See Erica's comments. *If* there's any relationship, it isn't close and is totally unprovable.

Incidentally, the family tradition is that Major John Welsh emigrated from Wales - not Northamptonshire, not London. This could, of course, be nothing more than a wild guess based on his last name....
