ATTENTION Curators, please assist

I raised a query via "contact manager" for sourcing for the John Bryan profile & included Private User on the thread so it will go from there.

Thank you so much again Erica for your assistance. You are correct, there does not appear to be any Brother's for Sir Francis Bryan. The extra Elizabeth Bryan is a mystery. I tried to find other Elizabeth Bryan's who could be the one who married Welles and the closest I could find was Elizabeth Bourchier (same family as the Bryan's but not in the same time period). I see (about the locking), no problem. I just thought that there may be a standard or guideline about locking profiles of famous people, which are likely to be prolifically duplicated - particularly those with complicated partnerships and offspring. But perhaps the locking doesn't help with this anyway? (I haven't been around long enough to understand how all of this works in practice.)

Melanie - we have two levels of locking available to curators.

1. Fully locked. Only a curator may edit, merge, etc. Guideline: includes a curator note saying this profile is locked.

2. Field locked. The main data fields and the overview may be locked, field by field, but anyone may edit, merge, etc.

I choose "not" to fully lock profiles, as I curate many profiles & need all the assistance I can get from anyone who cares to contribute. I do field lock quite a lot to protect the data elements from degrading.

Attention Curators, please assist!

This person Maria Hederström is doing a lot of breakings in old lines, cutting of relationships, adding new unknown partners, but does not add any support for the actions she's taking. It has come to my knowledge, that in order to do this kind of thing so high up in the tree, it should be after that a discussion has been mad in the affected profiles. I see no discussion, I see a new bounds, but not one single argument for this.

Profiles that's being changed, up and downwards.

Need every help we can get in order to at least make the person responsible, Maria Hedenström, to add the fact that supports what she is doing at least, since she's acting on her own.

Ulf, I'm not familiar enough with the Snakenborg family to help here. That high up in the tree, there should certainly be a discussion before making major changes and there should be a lot documentation being added to justify the changes.

Exactly my point. This is most likely made in apathy against me and my brother, as she previous has tried to just cut in our line this high up, also then without any adding of discussion, sources etc. Just acting!

Anyhow, we, no one, should accept this kind of behavior. If I make changes, I always add sources, and when I,m done the profiles conforms with them, and if the sources are halting, I add some kind of passus to how it should be interpreted. She is deleting existing profiles and she creates new ones, alter the parents, the lineages gets broken,
and most of all, without giving us the WHY she has done it.

Could someone please do the voo doo that you do for profiles of living celebrities and such for the following profile :-)

Dimitri Gazan, - As a curator you can send a request to make it a Master Profile.

I would however recommend making a small change in the about me telling that the complete text is copied from Wikipedia or even better just write a summary and link to Wikipedia for further reading to avoid copyright trouble.

I was really looking forward to the naked running bit, but I 'll just have to take comfort in MP'ing the profile.

I always link to Wikipedia and not use a bit of it's text. The text I do copy, I name the source, of course.

Hello, I was merging some duplicate profiles, but the more research I did, the more I doubt the parents of Thomas Jones, of Guilford being John Jones & Anna Vassell.

Can you disconnect the parents attached to Thomas Jones, of Guilford?

I emailed the manager but he has not been active since 2014.

Agree that there is evidence to support Thomas Jones, of Guilford as a child of Rev John Jones & Anna Vassall. He has been disconnected from them as his parents & place holder parents made.

Can you perhaps find less common names in your tree? Maybe a Smith ?
