ATTENTION Curators, please assist

As I went to seach my Fb messages, which Joan and I wrote over 4 years time, passing each other newly found Tosas/Tossas information, including the login to the Mundia site tee, my heart stopped!!! Apparently, his family, have deleted his Fb page, which automatically deleted all of these messages!!! OMG! I am crushed, right at this moment. :-(

There were so many links and things, I had left in his care (just passed on to him, as he was our Catalan branch department head, so to speak... Which I myself, not being able to speak/read the Catalan information... )
I have messaged his sister and his son, in the hopes, one of them, will at the very least, be able to send me a copy of the GEDCOM.
Also, disturbing is that the Mundia (dot com) site itself, is also, no longer available,mas they have apparently completed the threatened "merge" with ancestry (dot com) and taken down their site!!!
Waiting for answer from Joan's immediate family and will then, see further.

A few months ago I asked Geni what will happen to all my Geni messages when I die. They said the profiles I manage can be transferred to my sister or husband, but when my profile is marked deceased, all my messages with all those links and leads will disappear.

This is a good reminder that I still need to go out and salvage the good stuff.

His Sister did message me back and gave me the Email address for his Son. She also, mentioned, that may have access to His Father's computer, (Which is HOW he would've used the automatic log in, for His father's Fb, to have gotten in, to delete it, in the first place.) and THERE is where we may likely, also, find, at the very least, the Family Tree Data, that i am looking for, to connect Joan's profile, to my tree, through the Tosas Puig branches.

I know so far, messages as in comments in Public Discussions have not been being deleted, and I would say it is important that they not be.

Had not thought about the Private Messages - I assume when someone e-mails me, my copy stays even if they die or close their account - and assumed it would be the same on Geni.

Facebook I hadn't thought about - and it is upsetting to hear that they handle things that way.

Lois, not the public messages. There would be no reason for Geni to delete those because they contribute to all of Geni. What would be deleted are the private messages. That makes sense because those messages are intended for a small group, and anyone in that group would still have a copy (if they haven't deleted it).

My concern was because I often leave info in private messages, even though I know some of that info will be vital to my "genealogical heirs". I need to get it out of Geni and into a format that will be accessible to my sisters and step-sisters after I'm dead.

I'm thinking today about the value of info contained in FB pages. Today would have been the birthday of my sister who died a year ago. Her children chose to keep her FB page open as a memorial to their mother. It's very nice they did that. We can all see the last few years of her life in photos and comments. I wish everyone would do that when people die.

One thing is odd, though -- there seem to be some people who knew her well enough to be her FB friends but not well enough to know she died. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry when I see some of the birthday wishes. There's something downright bizarre about telling someone who's dead to "Make this the best year ever."

Lois, my experience,
Fb all private messages, ALL tagged photos (tagged to YOU,,from the now, deceased and deleted Fb profile, all comments i.e. "See your fb friendship" is all just gone, when the second partied Fb Page is deleted.

Also, on Geni the comments, uploaded and identified pictures of those "identified" should they have not "originally" been deceased at the time of "identification" Tagging, comments board posts, private messages and I believe, the uploaded Photo albums, of the "newly deceased" i.e. Once Living, now set to "deceased", are sent into online- oblivion.

Please, correct me anyone, if I am wrong, here.

Justin, Yes, it is a bit morbid, to read posts, by those Fb friends, who have not yet, received the update... :-/

But I also, have a few "real life" and "real life Fb friends" (People I had known in "Reality" and was Connected to virtually On Fb , as well), who have passed away, in the last few years,,Who's Fb pages remain, as a Memorial of their lives.
I am very thankful, for these... as it allows for all which you had previously mentioned, in reference to your sisters Fb page, as well as, a place to go, where one can conduct "grief management and processing", and still "talk/post" thoughts and things, with that person, who is otherwise, simply swept away, out of the World as we know/share it.
By the way, sorry, for your loss. It's never easy, losing a loved one.

My relatives who died after claiming a Profile on Geni - and whom Geni subsequently marked as unclaimed, are now marked deceased - they are still tagged in the Photos they were tagged in before they died.

Also - Public Discussions one created are still in existence.

What is gone - at least as far as access goes - is to see "Activity" for someone who had, but no longer has, a claimed Profile.

In Albums uploaded by Me and Family - I do not see the one a deceased relative had added listed. Are Photos and Documents we add to Geni deleted when we die, or what happens to them? Sort of would majorly defeat the purpose of uploading all this Documentation if that Happens. BUT - if nobody can make corrections or etc - that would also be bad.

The comments one made on Photos are still here (at least, located some - assume all are)

But Alexandre Trudel was married to Madeleine Belanger, a daughter of Francios (male) and Catherine Voyer, according to the above, link. (On Alexandre's About section, as well.)
They all kind of, fall into the same time frame, too. My guess, is a "bad" merge, somewhere or a case of mistaken identity.
