ATTENTION Curators, please assist

I now have 150 matches that are "private", showed up overnight and won't let me do anything with them except stare in contempt. 17 for George Boone, 23 for Squire Boone, 24 for Mary Maugridge, and on an on. How do I get them OFF my radar?

Private give us a chance and we'll get them merged in.

At least some of them are Zombies (should be Deceased but aren't).

Could one of the curators put a curators note on Barendina Hendrika Labuschagne's two sons Barend Christoffel and Barend Hendrik profiles not to merge please. They come up as a match but are both mentioned on her Death Notice.

When two profiles are "matched" go to the Compare Profiles screen, select Not a Match and save. They will never be matched again.

I think you have already done this even as they do not show as a match when i look at them

Alex Moes I've done that. I'm concerned that somebody else may look at the family and and merge the brothers. I've seen that happen before.

Maria Strydom and Maria Magdalena Hester Johanna Strydom are another two sisters that could easily be merged.

I did as you asked but Alex Moes is correct removing the 'Not a Match' usually works but I have had examples of people merging just by name.

I think they are the same as some of the family members are also a match but the estimated dates are to far off to be certain without resources.

MPing both profiles is the only way to stop a merge, there is no such thing as "idiot proof".

One tip that helps is to set Display Name to show middle names, also putting specific years (even if they are "circa") in the Birth Date Field.
This will stop people form merging just on a first name basis.

On the flip side if I find two profiles which look similar but lack data i check to see if they are managed by the same person, i assume (its a HUGE assumption) that if one person has made both profiles they did so on purpose and so therefore simply represent two siblings with the same name..

Alex Moes I like "there is no such thing as "idiot proof"" I'm working on a part of the Labuschagne tree that's never been researched properly. With the naming pattern in this family there are too many mistakes in the tree to mention. You'll notice that I'm only making corrections and adding profiles where I've found documentation to prove the relationships. I just don't want somebody to mess up hours of research because they THINK they know.

I can't figure out why her husband's won't merge, if a curator could please assist.

I'm not sure whether I managed to mess up a merge somehow before this, or it was messed up before anyway, but I can't see any on my list and so can't find a way of putting it right.
