Hi.

How can I delete the ancestors from an individual profile?
Someone else is the manager of those ancestors, so I'm not allowed to "x" them out.

Private a good way to do this is first add the correct parents (ignoring the warnings about multiple sets of parents), then resolve the resulting tree conflict by assigning the correct parents

Okay.
Never thought of that.
Thanks. Will give it a go.

Sorry. That method is only creating more havoc with my tree.
Can somebody just help me out and delete what I tell them?
A curator helped me out like this before.

Thanks.

Can you post a link to the profile of the individual profile

Then tell us who are the correct parents

Matthew Colbert

Correct parents are John Colbert and Catherine Colbert.
No other ancestors for Matthew...no siblings either.

Thanks.

Could someone please add Rubeigh James MINNEY and Hetty RUBENSTEIN as her adopted parents.

Thanks Angus

Could I please have a curators help.

Samuel Moses Duek-Cohen

This tree is abandoned and GENI cannot find a replacement manager and GENI is not allowing me to add a parent.

Samuel Moses Duek Cohen is the son of Sally DUEK COHEN (died 2/3/1916) and Moses Samuel DUEK COHEN (4/9/1834-24/5/1900) .

His wife Kadoon was also a DUEK COHEN.

Sally's parents were Seti COHEN (3/3/1804 to 13/10/18668) and Silliman Simon DUEK COHEN (died 29/10/1871)

Source: Turning Back the Pages by Esmond David EZRA - I can email a copy of the relevant page of the book to the curator if needed.

I can't seem to find the answer to this question via the Naming Conventions page or help centre, so I'm hoping that someone can help here, or direct me to the appropriate guidelines.

Thus far I have been assuming that the main name should reflect the name the person was last known as (i.e. if a woman assumes her husband's name upon marriage, use that; if she changes it back to her maiden name, use that, etc.)

However, what do we do if the person has deliberately left his old identity behind, moved to another country and assumed a new name? For example, say John Frederick Smith moves from England to Brazil in his 40s and calls himself Peregrine Falcon. We are certain of his origins, baptism name, etc. - which name gets recorded, and how should the other name get recorded? There is provision for birth surname, but not the other first names. I'm leaning towards using his assumed name, birth surname and then the full alias in the "aka" field - but would like to know if there is a consensus on this. I don't suppose it happens that often (and it took a lot of detective work to actually link the nom de plume with the original person - I believe that I am the first to have found the connection, in this case!).

Private User you should be able to edit Sally Duek Cohen with no difficulty.

Melanie the alias would go it the display name

Alex Moes - I think you meant to aim this at Private User...

Jason Scott Wills - Thanks. Do you mean his assumed name as the alias and the display name, and his birth name in all of the other fields?
What about putting birth name in the normal fields, assumed name in the alias, and "John Smith a.k.a. Peregrine Falcon" in the Display name?

Note that his descendants inherited his assumed name, as he had no children under his birth name.

You're right, sorry Melanie.

Personally I think "What about putting birth name in the normal fields, assumed name in the alias, and "John Smith a.k.a. Peregrine Falcon" in the Display name" would be fine.

Thanks jason

Now I am doing it, thanks alex

Hello Curators,

If someone would be so kind, as to set this profile to public and MP and curate it, that would be great. This link reflects the profile of John Astin, Gomes of Addams Family Fame. A well known actor and naturally, public person.

Thank you, for your attention and assistance.

Many thanks, Jim.

Due to some strange disorder? someone had set up a mother to one of this profiles, who would have been around 100 years old when she had her son...Impossible, yes.

The family tree needs therefor help, this two profiles needs to be merged and the parents set to "Anders "Store Marsk" Tokeson Hvide and Inger Jacobsdatter Hvide", they were at least, married, the fathers line are otherwise some kind of collaborative guessing work here on Geni, but I have sorted it out so that this line are at least plausible.

Marsk Stig Andersen Hvide (af Jylland), til Tygestrup
Marsk Stig Andersen Hvide (af Jylland), til Tygestrup

If you have to chose between name data, use either one, it doesn't matter.

If you have to chose between birth, use mine, the marriaged took place after the first husbands death, thus, the son are born after ca.1247.

1. "Marsk" Stig Andersen Hvide (af Jylland), til Tygestrup
2. Stig Andersen Hvide (marszałek), til Tygestrup, Marsk

And yes, split this incest fantasy marriage also.
Anders "Store Marsk" Tokeson Hvide
born 1190 Denmark Dead: cirka 1255 (61-69)

Queen Christina Stigsdatter of Sweden
born cirka 1145 Dead: cirka 1200 (47-63) Dead after 1162

Pls chk

Yes, checked and thanks, and almost all looks good, accept, birth of the son, the son are likely born after ca.1247, if he shall stay in this line, as I wrote in his profile, he was first mentioned 1275, as an adult, because he were then already a Marsk, so it's likely that he was born after 1247, after the mothers first husband was dead. The birth year 1230 are just a free fantasy, not mentioned in any source.

So, to be clear. If he was a son of that mother, then he was born after ca.1247.

Marsk Stig Andersen Hvide (af Jylland), til Tygestrup

Private User

Only one problem if he was b in 1247 it would mean he fathered his children with Ossa (Nielsdatter) Hvide around 13yrs plus
