Judith "Judi" Elaine (McKee) Burns - I deleted your post for two reasons:
1. Don't post your email address in public discussions -- these are visible to Google and all. You'll get a lot of spam that way.
2. Don't post those /c/ links -- the chance is slim but not impossible that someone could use those links to log into Geni as you.
I've taken a copy of your message and will respond when I'm in the office tomorrow. Most likely what's happening is that the duplicate has already been merged. You should get a green "notice" message at the top of the landing page, though....
ok thanks Mike Stangel wasn't sure how to handle that.. I think she forgot you guys have a priortiy help section for paid users and it should have been put there not in here.
There was another duplicate merge sent at same time Mike and it landed on the profile and told me that the merge had been made -
Just wondering what was going along with it and why it was sent if it was not connected to any profile the "sender" is what is throwing me off and why it is going directly to the home page -
There is no error message or that the profile had been deleted or merged - - was wondering if some one has tampered with the profile s that existed as "sender" would of been at least one of the profiles and or both names
The response that I got sending me directly to the home page and not that the profile was non-existent or had already been merged with another gives me a very weird and was sending big red warning flags
- this is a first in all they ears I have been on GENI for this as clicking the link has always told me its been merged or its and error
I debated even saying anything about it
Michael McCan the experience with the "priority help section" for the pro users I have found that in the past takes weeks even to obtain an answer from them or the last time I did use it and by time I got a response I had solved the problem or was told it really did not exist so I don't bother much with it.
I don't know if any curators are also members of and able to look at MyHeritage profiles, but (long story short), I would really like to see if the record linked to at Sarah Jobson, SM/PROG (born Butler), 1796 - 1875, the 6th entry on this page: https://www.myheritage.com/names/sarah_jobson has any actual evidence which links that Sarah Butler with that particular baptism record and parents.
I have been doing quite a lot of digging on this one and although there are a few baptism records in Warwickshire which could justifiably be her birth record based on other evidence and/or location of marriage (sometimes contradictory), I haven't found enough to convince me to pick one over another yet, although I have gathered a few further incidental facts along the way.
Is anyone able to help by viewing the actual record and letting me know if there is anything concrete supplied anywhere else on the profile?
Ard van Bergen Thanks for that. I also found that baptism record, but no proof that it is the correct one. Other info suggests that she was 21 in 1820, so unless the latter is incorrect (and I suppose she may have wanted to make herself out to be only 1 year older than her husband rather than 4...) then that doesn't tie up. Also, Coleshill is a fair distance from Harbury, where they were married. (Another baptism record matches better with age in 1820, but similar distance; a third one is very close to Harbury, but a few years too late.)
I don't want to just copy the MyHeritage record without knowing that there has been some good research behind it - but thanks for your efforts anyway. :-)
Curators please help me, I've requested merges on these people here and yes they are the same people:
merge this Addie Bell Sorrow: Addie Bell Sorrow
with this Addie Bell Sorrow: Addie Bell Sorrow
if you please yes these addie bell sorrows are the same person why do i say that is because the John Newton Shields and Mary Lucinda Allen had Addie Bell Sorrow outside off wedlock and when that happens the child takes the maiden name of the mother and not the father and how do i know that is because well, because my first girl cousin or 1st cousin Aubrey Lee Anderson had sex with her boyfriend at a young age 16 yrs old and her boyfriends' name with whom she had sex with is Dalton Hansford who is 1 yr older than her. and she had a child, Dalton Hansford's child but did she name her child the "Hansford" last name no she named him Liam Kenneth Anderson not Hansford.
and also please merge this Jacqueline Sorrow-Lewallen: Jacqueline Veritta Lewallen
with this: Jacqueline Veritta Jackie Sorrow-Lewallen:
and yes based on this person obituary i found these two profiles are the same person no matter what so do you think you can override the profile managers merges or not.
and the manager Carla Lewallen Ricci hasn't responded to my merges or let alone be online in a while so i click abandoned tree, but there's no living claimed family members of hers. except me. and yes I'm related to this people and i want to merge these people so i could have a complete family tree without having to merge a bunch of stuff. if you'd please. so please merge these two people and other duplicates as well if you find them of course and I'd much appreciate it thank you.
but i've tried to contact : Private User; but she hasn't responded to any of my messages on here and she hasn't logged in, for nine months or otherwise i wouldn't have been able to click an abandon tree and what happens if you click on abandoned tree but there are no other managers on that same tree what would happen to the tree.
Judith "Judi" Elaine (McKee) Burns I looked further and what appears to have happened is that in the short time it takes us to fire off that email to you, someone already completed the merge. The profile name "Sender" is my clue that it fell back to filling in pretend profiles that we use for internal testing. This is the first instance I've seen of this so it must be exceedingly rare, however I'll create a ticket for engineering to change this so the email is never sent in this case.
Private Thank you for pointing out the Pro help system. We've been working hard to improve our response times there, and our average response time for Pro tickets is now about 3 days. Nevertheless, whenever there's good reason to think there's a critical bug or user misbehavior, I don't mind being tagged to at least have a look. Worst case, I'll just ask that person to submit a help ticket if my intervention is not necessary.
Dorothy Smid ... next time, please include a link to the profile(s) referred to. In this case, the husband was unique enough to find (despite the middle name being spelled different) ... but, in general, a link is absolutely necessary.
The two resulting profiles (after some shuffling of relationships) are:
Feyck NN
and
Feyck NN
FYI: the dates on the Watzes Juws looks like it may be incorrect to be the father of those two children...
Dan .....in many cases the links are written in Dutch usually from EBook's or on Wikipedia that I have used for reference while building my tree on an other site. What I have found , I post here on Geni.
I don't usually go by what "other family trees" I come across on the internet . BTW my findings though they do differ from what others members may post on Geni my findings are not incorrect... the other members information in many cases are incorrect do to lack of research on their part and that is why we have many conflicts on this site.
You have no idea how many errors II have found and have tried to correct with the help of other curators like yourself to make this " world wide shared family tree" right as far as my own Biological bloodline ancestors go.
Dorothy Smid - I wasn't questioning your research, by any means; just drawing attention to a potential issue in case you hadn't noted it.
This is indeed the discussion to come to when you need help with things like undoing bad merges; genealogical issues, on the other hand, should be addressed in (new) discussions under the Discussion tab of the specific profiles in question.
Thanks for your diligence in helping to 'make things correct'!
Just as a reminder: Asking to have profiles flagged as "Master Profiles" (once you've done the "due diligence" to make sure there aren't obvious duplicate profiles) is a great way to keep multi-generational "same name" families from getting tangled up. (There is another "sticky" discussion for that purpose.)
As someone who works with you a lot both in the public discussions and in Private Messages,as you know in the past we have talked about terminology..
When we ask for links to the pofiles you are asking about, all you have to do is to open the Geni profile and copy and paste the URL of the profile, when you do it helps us get to it quickly and solve the issues quicker..
An example you asked
"Can someone please unmerge these to profiles as the same person...
One "Feyck" was born 1415 her husband was Abbe Waitzes Dekema born 1415
the other "Feyck NN' born 1375 was married to Watzes Juws Dekema
born 1390 they are Abbe Watzes Dekema mother and father."
If you had given us the link to the profile (this is the link) Feyck NN we would have opened the profile, go to Revisions, found where you merged them Feyck was merged into Feyck NN by Dorothy Jane Smid.
We would then undo the merge and fix what you asked..like what Dan did..
It makes life so much easier when we get links to profiles
Keep up the good work.
Hi, I was working on coming up with a genealogy related meme (I'm geeky like that) and I came across some profiles that should be public and mp'd because they are famous and notable individuals.
Bill Pullman - Bill Pullman
Rick Moranis has two profiles that should be merged as well and made public -
Rick Moranis
Rick Moranis
-Steve
Steve Jaron I got Rick Moranis started - can you continue by adding to projects ? What come to mind -
Canadian actors in US
Jewish celebrity birthday calendar
(we might have a ghostbusters project, if not, we should !)
Comedians
Film actors
Screenwriters
(probably more)
I got Bill Pullman MPd for you. I have also added Rick Moranis to some more projects. I still have at least two to add him to, but I need to create them first.
Kevin
Valerie - Claimed profile is one possibility [in Tree View you will see blue box around profile photo area - so you could tell if that is the case.] Could also be a Profile with another dependent on it [eg, if 'Susy Smith' is only connected to the Tree thru her mother, then you cannot delete her mother until she is deleted] Or - based on comments I think I recall seeing in past, at some point there was an occasional issue where Geni goofed and failed to fully note that a dependent profile was removed - with a link, a Curator could probably tell which situation it is (or if it appears to be a bug).
