I do not mean to raise questions, but how do you know this is William Wallace's child? And where did you find your information? I ask out of curiosity not out of speculation. Please answer me because this is a topic I'm truly interested in. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
J Chapman

Considering who he was it would make sense that he would shelter her and possibly make it difficult to make the connection.
My grampa told me I was related to William Wallace when I was a kid before the movie ... so it meant little to me ... he told my dad that too and his dad told him and so on.... also mentioned George Washington.. ... and other names... so this was before ancestory.com and all that so I trust his message that was passed down.
as I look on here I see there was at least something to what he was saying..

but, that is NOT how it is NOW showing ???
S***** L**** Schwenger -- It seems there was a parent conflict resulting from a merge at the John Ruthven, son of George ... which you could have easily seen by tracing the path.
The 'path finding' of Geni does not try to progress past parental conflicts -- they have to be resolved.
I resolved that conflict (the father George needed a merge); no special curator powers -- just an ordinary merge resolving -- which can happen often in the Geni tree as new members add their connections into the Geni World Tree.
Since there are several "side-steps" in the path you noted, the automatic path search may not re-create it as you've shown, but the path certainly should be able to "follow you" as you go step-by-step from yourself back to Sir William. I found the conflict by using the Tree View (+2, +1 generations view preference) and stepping along the path you provided -- then the conflict (yellow triangle) was obvious.
Is there a source for the parents being Sir Alan Wallace and Jean Wallace. Everything I have shows Malcolm Wallace and Margaret Crawford as his parents. See Blind Harry's poem. Also see:

See this discussion:

"A. McGowan established in 1999 that Sir William Wallace was the
son of one Alan Wallace [1]. As Bruce McAndrew wrote in 'Scotland's
Historic Heraldry', there is a letter from the Guardians of Scotland
(Sir William Wallace and Sir Andrew Murray) to the Hanseatic cities of
Lubeck and Hamburg dated to fall 1297, which still bears the seal of
the Guardian, Sir William Wallace:
' The cast of the seal displays A bow and arrow and
the legend reads as [WILLELM]VS FILIVS ALANI WALAIS,
negating the usual story that his father was
Sir Malcolm Wallace of Elderslie. [2]"
And, "William Anderson, "The Scottish Nation: or the
Surnames, Families, Literature, Honours and
Biographical History of The People of Scotland", three
volumes in 1860s, pp 173-174 has lots to say about the
consecutive lineages of the Baillie of Lamington.
(Google Books seems to find it...)"
