The links of the chain between Capt. John Adams Thomas Adams and Benjamin Adams seem suspect for a variety of reasons, including the following:

1. vagueness about the number and names of the children of John Jr. in the source material currently linked to this profile.
2. no wife's name listed for Thomas Adams nor was I able to find one while searching online.
3. A specific DOB for Benjamin which is in a different year from what is shown [http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jswdna/adamschart... here]
4. only a year of birth and no spouse listed for Benjamin Adams
5. a current 5 year age gap between Thomas Adams and his supposed son Benjamin Adams
6. genetic evidence which refutes the connection between yDNA tester A114 and the older areas of [http://www.geni.com/path/Jonathan+Adams+is+related+to+John+Adams+Il... this line].
7. Quaker familial records and some will documentation for generations between Jonathan Adams and George L. Adams

Given all of this, I think that it's probable that this Thomas Adams is not the father of Benjamin Adams and it's likely that even if an alternate Thomas were found to replace him, this part of the tree http://www.geni.com/path/George+Adams+is+related+to+Captain+John+Ad... is likely not to be valid.

Someone obviously precariously Mixed up/Merged wrongly, their Sr.'s and Juniors. And Sisters husband's father's.
That the Line isn't fully accurate IS Most definitely THE Case.
THE DNA IS also quite a good Argument. There are adopted, affair, half through the Mother's First marriage then, given THE Name or called such, but Not with legal implementation.
So many reasons, why he may be wrongly placed/designated/named.

As for missing brothers and sisters (and I can only speak for myself)
My mothers fathers line, is not well known to us. (Cox) so I only have the ones I am aware of or could find anything substantial on, listed. Or if I just didn't have the time to finish the branch... My great grandmother same side, had 12 brothers n sisters. And they have children and they have children too. Might get to that next weekend, finally.
My point was only, that I wouldn't rule anything out too quickly.

Another idea would be he's falsely merged to his brother as his father. (5trs age difference)
Whatever it is, I hope it's able to be located and rectified.
