Ja, Katherine Marie Long A185831, I think so too, but thought I should make sure it wasn't a nickname like Ingiborg gets called "Earls'Mother', and Crinan gets called "The Thane".
Private User do you want to decide how you'd like it to look?
Jarl is definitely not a part of his name, but we sometimes uses "Best known as" in the name fields in this area, which sometimes may include a title.
For this specific person it would be wrong because one of the main stories about him is that king Harald Hardråde _refused_ making him an Jarl/Earl, so he left the country.
A major cleanup is needed in this area also to remove/replace English names and titles, but I fear that we also have to search for main profiles which probably have been sabotaged and disconnected and replaced by new profiles because the number of managers on some of the profiles is unnaturally low. Unfortunately it sometimes happens on Master Profiles, especially if they have been locked.
Thanks, Bjorn.
From the perspective of a clean-up and removing English names, I was thinking about that myself the other day - I really love to see the original form of the name, and add it in wherever I can cut & paste it, but I also like an English or 'Pertinent Other Language' translation if the language is actually now too outdated to search on.
For example all the Gaelic or Hiberno-Norse names from Medieval British times no longer translate easily into a modern language.
Interesting dilemma, that I haven't solved for myself yet :-)
Well, you know my proposal on getting language dependent display names which would be perfect in these lines, so I have postponed most such cleanups in the hope that Geni will give us a better solution.
You should however remember that the Also Known As field is meant to be used for FULL alternative names, which also goes into the search index today, meaning that if the full English or Gaelic name is entered there you will get a hit when doing a search.
