Dear Bonnie Jean,

It shows that Jacob is our 121st Great Grandfather - with links - Goes through Wales to Israel. Also King David and a couple others. What is this thread? Is there something wrong with the links?

Bonnie Jean Munce (Carlson) I should clarify. This was only a test of a list of the profile ID numbers given to me by a geni member to see if they were viable profiles by placing the numbers inside double square brackets.

eg
6000000002288008174 enclose number in square brackets. [[ ]] [[ID#]]

I see. I have only just started to learn of the complexity of geneology. Thank you for explaining that about ID numbers.

Even though Sylvia is my sister, and it shows on her computer that Jacob is our 121st Grandfather, It doesn't show up on my computer. It just shows we are connected, with no path. I don'e know why it would be different on my computer, but it has happened that way with another person who at first showed up as my 13th cousin, and then it changed. Now it is back whoing the person as my 13th cousin again.

Bonnie, Going this far back there are so many generations that it is almost certain that one of the users is working somewhere in line. So, good links are being created and bad links are being broken all the time. Geni has probably cached Sylvia's relationship, but not yours. It doesn't mean you aren't related, just that Geni is struggling to catch up ;)

Bonnie, Justin is right - and sometimes, you need to find a person in the path you are related to - and train Geni to see the rest of the descendants - down to your profile.

Private ancestor profiles - will stop the Path training - as you will not be able to go to that profile - and show Geni the next descendant.

Also, there are often many paths with which to make a connection to another very distant family members. So, if you want to explore other options, and see who else is connected to an individual, and perhaps thus find new family members, you can use the "green pushpin" on the upper right hand side of the profile of an individual profile. eg.

Except for some genealogical works, I always see Yochanan haSandalar described as great-grandson of Gamaliel I, rather than as son of Gamaliel II. How certain sure are we of these two intervening generations?

@Ahitophel . Can someone please provide me an explanation for why Ahitophel is the son of Solomon? The Bible only mentions one son of Solomon. And I can find no midrash for this connection. So what is the basis for this connection?
